Olympus
Founded in 1919 as Takachiho Seisakusho and based in Tokyo, Japan, Olympus’ first products were microscopes, a product line that continues to this day. However Olympus is best known for its long history in camera and lens design stemming from 1936 when Olympus’ first camera was launched. Since that time, Olympus has also specialised in voice recorder technologies, introducing the microcassette in 1969; and also created the xD memory card format in partnership with Fujifilm. Olympus currently has corporate offices in 46 countries worldwide.
